Optical Measurements

Digital material modeling is a wide field in which we have collected expertise during our academic carreers in Computer Graphics. Besides surface reflectance, volumetric light propagation beneath the surface play an important role, especially in 3D printing with translucent polymers. Over the years we have developed our own measurement techniques for characterizing a material’s volumetric absorption, scattering and optical density.

Physics-grade Laboratory

Through our collaboration with Charles University’s Computer Graphics Group we have access to a fully-equipped optical laboratory. With this valuable resource, we can measure how light propagates within a material with spectral accuracy.
